Every step forward should be lighter on the planet. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Tread Lightly, a national shoe recycling initiative that keeps footwear out of landfill and turns it into something new.
Recycle Your Old Shoe
Got a pair you no longer wear? Simply drop them off at participating Hush Puppies stores, and we’ll ensure they’re sent to Tread Lightly for recycling.
Instead of ending up in landfill, your shoes are collected, sorted, and broken down into recycled crumb, then transformed into gym mats, playground surfaces, and more.
Our Impact
Through our partnership, we’ve helped recycle tens of thousands of shoes, keeping them out of landfill and giving them new purpose.
Together, since 2012, we’ve recycled over 27,000 pairs of shoes through Tread Lightly.
Why it Matters
Each year, more than 110 million pairs of shoes arrive in Australia. Only 1% are recycled. The rest? Most end up in landfill, where they can take over 1,000 years to break down.
Through Tread Lightly, those shoes are given a second life, helping reduce waste and creating products that benefit communities.
